Andrew specialises in Mental Capacity, Community Care and Mental Health Law
Andrew has been assisting clients in the Court of Protection and its regional courts since 2012. Andrew is frequently instructed by the Official Solicitor who acts as litigation friend to the patient, in addition Andrew also represents the relatives of patients who are subject to Court of Protection proceedings. He has been instructed Andrew has been instructed in numerous serious medical treatment cases convened at the Royal Courts of Justice and is a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association.

- X  EWCOP 50 – Concerning what provision of care the local authority should provide to a patient in their own home with considerable nursing needs.
- SB  EWHC 1417 (COP) – Concerning the patient’s capacity to consent to a termination.
Andrew has represented clients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 at hospitals across the South West in addition to travelling to high secure units such as Broadmoor in Berkshire and Rampton in Nottinghamshire.
Andrew has undertaken a significant amount of community care work and litigated with local authorities in order to ensure clients are receiving an appropriate package of care within their home or placement. Andrew regularly challenges social care assessments and has judicially reviewed the decisions of local authorities.
